Dominica "Whale Watching Capital of the Caribbean"

The waters off of Dominica are prime feeding, breeding areas for whales. Dominica has a high rate of whales or dolphins sighting during whale watching excursions.

Dominica is unique, in that specific family units of whales can be spooted with high regularity. Dominica is the only country in the world where the Sperm Whale resides all year long. Many species of whales vistit the island yearly.

Whales at Play Whales and dolphins commonly found in Dominica ocean waters include: sperm whales, pilot whales, pygmy whales, Atlantic spinner dolphin and spotted dolphin.Best spotting is at Scotts Head, Roseau, Layou, and Point Round.

Andrew Armour, of Kubuli Watersports know all about where to meet the whales. Andrew who is called the "Whale Whisperer" because of his ability to communicate with sperm whales, works with Hotels and Guest houses to help visitors experience the friendship of whales. "The best encounter is when the whales are socialising among themselves and they'll come over and play with us," Allinson adds.
